Spring Maintenance for Your Heater and Air Conditioner

Spring is arriving shortly so it’s important to start working on your spring home maintenance checklist. As an air conditioner repair expert, AB & B Air Conditioning and Heating recommends making sure that your HVAC system is in good condition before the season begins. Here’s what you need to know:

Air Conditioner and Heater Maintenance Tips

It’s a good idea to check your air conditioning and heating system before the beginning of a new season. Each season brings different weather challenges and you want your HVAC systems to function properly. Start by analyzing your furnace and air conditioner filters. Check the condition of your filters and research the filter type to determine how long it typically lasts. Worn-out filters need to be replaced.

Check the area on the base of your air conditioner’s cabinet and beneath the evaporator fins. You will find a drainage hole that needs to stay clear for the air conditioner to function properly. Use a wire or paper clip to poke the hole and clear it if necessary. If you have a dehumidifier, you will need to clean it as well. Remove the dehumidifier filter, scrub every crevice, and let it completely dry. Finally, after these tasks, we suggest calling a professional for inspection.
