Spring is the perfect time to take care of your home, so don’t forget to include your heating and air conditioning system in your maintenance checklist. As the leading choice for A/C, indoor air quality and heating services in our area, we recommend adding these tasks to your spring cleaning task list:
Clean Your Exterior Air Conditioner Unit
Winter can cause debris to pile up around your exterior air conditioning unit, which can restrict air flow to your condenser. This, in turn, could lead to system performance issues and decreased comfort levels inside your home. Turn off the power to the unit and vacuum the air conditioner fins using a soft brush attachment. Remove the yard waste and cut back any brush or shrubs surrounding the unit to maintain good airflow.
Clean Your Floor Registers
Small items, dirt, pet hair, and other debris can easily find their way into your floor registers, causing problems for your air conditioning system. We recommend removing the vent by unscrewing it from the floor, and clean by placing it in soapy water and using a brush or sponge to remove dirt or rust. Make sure that the vent is thoroughly dry before reinstalling it.
Schedule a Professional Inspection
It’s always a good idea to schedule a professional heating and air conditioning system inspection. Dirt and debris can accumulate within your HVAC system and you need a qualified technician’s help to keep them clean. A qualified HVAC technician will inspect your system for any problems, clean your air conditioner coils, and remove dirt from HVAC components.
